Do hard floors hurt animals?

I just moved into a house that has ALL tile floors. I have 1 INDOOR cat (he NEVER goes outside). He is a gray short haired tabby. This is our first time living in a place that doesn't have carpet. I noticed one day, when my cat was bathing himself, on both of his back legs, in the same area, (near the tarsus and fibula,) the hair was gone and there were dry bloody wounds. He does not chew at the area, only cleans it gently as part of his normal bath. He's 4 yrs. old and still very active (running, jumping, playing, etc.). There is no other usual behavior like over cleaning or chewing at any specific area. He's not over weight.
Does anyone know what causes this? Could it be the hard floors in my home? Does anyone know of a solution that I can use to help heal my kitties wounds and prevent this from happening again?

My cats that I adopted have lived in my house for several years. My house is entirely tiled. The whole thing. They've never had a problem and both are long haired. One is a Persian and the other is a Domestic Long Hair. I'd go see the vet and see if there was something else causing this, unless you just started using something new on the floors maybe that has something in it that may be having a reaction on them?
