Is it hard to make your own, cast iron stove?
I've done sandcasting before, and I imagine building your own woodburner would be the same old story - build a good, wooden model, take it to the foundry, and have it done by sandcasting.
Is that realistic though?
I've never built a stove, but I imagine if I copy what I see elsewhere, there won't be that many surprises.
Or is stove building an art I currently underestimate?
yes
but the cost would be outrageous,
for 1 unit,
most new wood stoves are made from plate steel now days,
welded to gether, cast iron can be welded but it has to be heated first, then welded then slowly cooled or it will crack,
