What do you do when an "aquarium safe" ornemment is not so safe?
A few days ago I bought a painted ceramic pot for my aquarium. I bought it at a pet store, and it said that it was "aquarium safe", but when I put it in the water it began fizzing! It looked like an anti-acid tablet when dropped in a glass of water. I immediately removed the pot and emptied the water from the tank (It had made the water fizzy and slightly cloudy...). I also noticed that when I dried it off some of the paint rubbed off as well. I would like to keep the jug, but not at the cost of my fish's lives. I noticed that soaking it for a few hours in water stopped it from fizzing, but the paint still rubs off. Is their any way I can make it safe for my aquarium, or should I demand my money back?
It continued fizzing even after being removed from an air source. I put it in a bucket full of water and it continued fizzing for around 3 hours.
Those were just air bubbles..
but you were wise to remove it because of the paint.
