what is the best enclosure to put a single Alpine 15 inch type R in my truck?
i have a '99 Dodge Dakota SLT with the extended cab and i currently have 2 of these monsters in a dual fully sealed box...HOWEVER- it looks tacky if they stand up, because they point right at my 3 yr old, and when they lay down, they take up the whole back seat so we cant even fit his booster seat in there. I've got the tools needed to chop up a sheet of MDF or two, i just want to know what will suit my needs best, i listen to a lot of metal, and i know that 15s aren't quite choice for that type of music, but i have to deal with the hand i've been dealt. i like it low and punchy, slammin, i don't necessarily need the bass to be able to ride out, just love the slam of the kick drums like in the song Master's Apprentices by Opeth, or Now You've Got Something To Die For or Omerta by Lamb of God, or any other metal song for that matter. If you have any suggestions or ideas plz let me know. thanks!
Erik.
15's are fine for metal. Trying to say one size is better for this type of music, etc etc, is a newbie myth.
Go to any rock concert, and they have 15 and 18 inch woofers....
If you have the room, put them in a big ported box, tuned low, and the kick drum will knock your head off. Sealed is fine too, just follow alpines recommendations.
They do make custom-fit boxes for dakotas, but I dont think for 15's.
