what can i feed turkeys?

I took delivery of about 6 week old bronze turkey chicks today.
Rely nice healthy birds..a part from regular grain and feed that I can get from my local supplier will they eat kitchen table scraps as well.
We have kept 4 hens for the last year and have had good success with them varying their diet with meal and scraps and allowing them to roam in a large movable pen.
We are not looking to produce massive birds for Christmas rather a smaller tastier bird, in fact we will probally get too friendly with with our new guests that we will have spam for Christmas Day LOL
I have read up on poultry keeping on the web but would still appreciate
simple first hand experience or a "Good Site"

Why is meat such a bad idea..is it because it is bad diet wise for them or does it bring out a a "cannibal instinct"

You don't say how old these chicks are.

If they are just hatched, you can buy a turkey poult crumbs, this can be fed to them for 6 weeks old. You then need a turkey grower, has more protein and minerals they need. You should look out for the brands that contain a medication for Blackhead too. This disease can wipe out all your birds with in hours.

You could feed household scraps from the Kitchen, but make sure it does not contain salt or cooked/raw meat.

If you can't bear to bring yourself to the culling at Christmas, your birds will need an adult laying turkey meal or pellets at 18 weeks old.
