Mediterranean Beads

I need to try and keep flies out of my conservatory?

I like to leave the doors open on hot days to let fresh air (and my cat!) in but with that, in come all the flies and bees. I dont want to put up any fly killers as flies avoid these and the poor bees get it so I was thinking about getting some beaded / ribbon curtains. I have seen these used on peoples doors in the mediterranean. Would that help to keep the flies out and where can I get them (UK). Any advice would be greatly appreciated - thanks.

Bead curtains can be got from a lot of places - Poundland, Home Bargains, Wilkos, that sorta place - or some garden shops or maybe your local market.
Old country remedy - tie bunches of mint or elder leaves (ask the tree first) in the doorway cos flies don't like them. Pale blue paint or drapes also repels flies. The old-timers used to put blue-bag in the whitewash when doing farm buldngs.
You could try burning joss-sticks outside the door.
And I heartily agree with you about chemicals!
