Pencil Drawing

How do I protect a pencil drawing on canvas without smearing it?

I am starting to expirement with different styles of art. I drew the World Trade Centers on a 16x20 canvas but I don't know how to protect it so it cannot smear and lasts longer. I was told hairspray but I think that will yellow. Any ideas?
I used the hairspray and it worked great. Thank you!!!!

you can get a specail setting spray from art shops which is good but smells really bad. I just use hair spray and it works fine
