i was watching this debate of the Catholic Faith Defenders (CFD) and Seventh Day Adventist (SDA), i was totally surprised when the CFD read from Mathew 16:18
"And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My Roman Catholic Apostolic Church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it."
I WAS STUNNED!
They change the context of the bible just to fit their religion and prove they are the right church. I asked which version they are using, and they provided me with this:

I think this is a hoax. There *is* a Roman Catholic edition of the Revised Standard Version, and there *are* certain minor changes to the text that the Roman Catholic Church required (and the translators agreed to!) before giving this edition the highest level of approval, that for use in liturgy. There are, to the best of my knowledge, only 4 English bibles that have received approval for liturgical use by the Roman Catholic Church:
The New Jerusalem Bible
The New American Bible, revised for liturgy
The Revised Standard Version, Roman Catholic Edition
The New Revised Standard Version, Roman Catholic Edition
Now, the first 2 are produced by the Roman Catholic Church, the last 2 by multi-faith councils. This is what the New Jerusalem Bible - yes, a bible produced by the Roman Catholic Church itself - says for Mat 16:18
"So I now say to you: You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my community. And the gates of the underworld can never overpower it."
Notice that the bible *produced* by the Roman Catholic Church says nothing here about roman, catholic *or* apostolic. I do not have a copy of the Roman Catholic edition of the RSV, but I would wager money that the quote you have is a hoax.
