What was the historic Union Pacific train I saw in Portland OR this morning?
Today is March 17, 2010. At Union Station this morning, there was a beautiful UP passenger train. Anybody know what the story behind this is?
I don't know for sure but what you probably saw was an officers special.It is all streamliner and business cars that is pulled by EMD E-9 power.If they were diesel locomotives i'm probably right.I believe the 844 steam train is running elsewhere at the moment.However it did just leave on a trip.You might look at http://www.uprr.com to see if there's more info.
